This article outlines how BU Staff can transfer their DUO use to a replacement mobile (smartphone/tablet) device if they no longer have the original unit, or manage other settings under their BU DUO profile.


Prerequisites

Just an internet-capable web browser is needed to manage your DUO device Settings, or to re-activate "DUO Mobile" on a second device. This article also presumes that you have already completed the DUO enrollement and have been already using it for BU systems.

 **If you need to reactivate DUO Mobile on a new smartphone/tablet you are replacing your old phone/tablet with, you will need to login to the portal from a different device/screen (like a computer, your old phone, another tablet) so that you can scan a code by using the camera on your new device inside the "DUO Mobile" app on your new phone.

Login to the BU DUO portal from a web browser: https://duoportal.brandonu.ca/

Be sure you log in with your BU account username (not your email address) and BU account password,


To reach your BU DUO account settings, the DUO system itself will have to authenticate your approval when you login to the site.  If you are typically using a smartphone's "DUO Mobile" app for your DUO verifications but it is not working (because you no longer have the old device, or if this your first time), then the "push" option will not work; you will have to use options such as "call me" or "enter a passcode".  Example below show a person logging in that currently (or previously had) a iPhone as their means of authenticating to DUO:





Once you have passed the DUO Authentication screen, select "Device Options" beside the device you are using for authentication (it will either be a button with the words “Device Options” or a “Gear” icon.  Example with an iPhone (aka iOS) device used for authentication:

Then click on the button labelled "Reactivate Duo Mobile"

Click the Reactivate Duo Mobile button if you need to get Duo Push working on your phone, for example, if you replaced your phone with a new model but kept the same phone number. After answering some questions about your device, you will receive a new QR code to scan with your phone, which will complete the Duo Mobile activation process.

Installing or Re-Installing the "DUO Mobile" App 

Setting up a new phone? Or if you are just looking to use DUO authentication from a smartphone or tablet, first download the "DUO Mobile" app from your device's app store (App Store, Google Play, etc) – it is a free app. The icon will look similar to this:
