Welcome to Brandon University Moodle! This guide provides helpful information for BU students accessing Moodle for the first time.

Accessing BU Moodle

The main BU Moodle website is:

https://moodle.brandonu.ca

Logging in to Moodle with Single Sign-On (SSO)

Brandon University Staff, Students, and Faculty should use the Single Sign-On (SSO) option to log in to Moodle.

  1. Go to the BU Moodle website.
  2. On the Moodle login page, select Login with Single Sign-On (SSO).
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the Brandon University SSO login process.
  4. Once authenticated, you will be redirected to Moodle.

Important: Do not use the regular Moodle username/password login option. BU Staff, Students, and Faculty should use Login with Single Sign-On (SSO).

If you experience problems signing in through SSO, please contact BU IT HelpDesk for assistance with your BU account or login.

Recommended Web Browser

The main web browser supported for BU Moodle access is Mozilla Firefox.

Other browsers, including:

  • Google Chrome
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

may also work. However, you may experience issues viewing certain Moodle content or features, including instructor feedback or notes.

If you experience a problem viewing content or using a Moodle feature, please try accessing Moodle using Mozilla Firefox before reporting the issue.

Moodle Student Support Guide

A comprehensive support guide for students is available through the Brandon University Library's Moodle Student LibGuide.

The guide provides information about:

  • How Moodle is used
  • Finding your courses
  • Enrolling in Moodle courses
  • Navigating Moodle
  • Accessing course content
  • Submitting assignments
  • Using various Moodle features
  • Troubleshooting common Moodle issues

Please refer to the Moodle - Students - LibGuide for detailed instructions and additional assistance.

Enrolling in a Moodle Course

Some Moodle courses require a course enrolment key.

Your instructor will normally provide the enrolment key through one of the communication methods used for your course.

If you are unable to enrol in a course:

  1. First, confirm that you are accessing the correct Moodle course.
  2. Verify that you are using the correct enrolment key provided by your instructor.
  3. If you can access your other Moodle courses successfully, contact your instructor to confirm the course and enrolment information.
  4. If your instructor is unable to determine why you cannot access the course, they can contact the Moodle Site Administrator for further assistance.
